Toyota has announced the construction of a new plant in Woodstock, Ontario, scheduled to open 2008 located next door to Canada’s Technology Triangle. The new plant will operate under the management of the existing Cambridge plant. Toyota’s Cambridge facility has been in operation since 1988 and employs approximately 4300 people.

The University of Waterloo is also home to the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR), whose focus is to leverage on the existing research foundation and support major breakthroughs and innovations to the automotive sector. Conestoga College ITAL offers over 60 career-related programs, including two Bachelor of Applied Technology (Co-op) degrees in Advanced Manufacturing, producing highly trained graduates.
