The area has been the location of choice for over 65 contact centres employing an ever-growing number of people. Major shared services centres in the Region include: Arvato Services (Bertlesmann), CBCL Outsourcing (IRMC), Manulife Financial (Canadian operations), Marusa Marketing (SR Teleperformance Group), Nordia, IBM, Research In Motion, Rogers AT&T, World Access Canada and Sunlife Financial/Clarica. CBCL outsourcing, one of the Regions largest call centres, has been designated as a centre of excellence by its parent company IRMC. In choosing it’s Cambridge location for the honour, IRMC attributed the operations success to the employees abilities to meet their clients needs while maintaining high levels of professionalism. CBCL’s Cambridge workforce has grown from 200 in 2003 to over 1000 in 2005. The Arvato location is part of that company’s strategy to add near-shore capabilities to its existing on-shore and off-shore centres. Like CBCL, Arvato Services, a Bertlesmann company, is growing again; its employee compliment is expected to rise to 600.
