Strategic Location:

North Dumfries' southwestern Ontario location is within a day's drive of markets 130 million people strong. The township houses highways 8, 24 and 97 in addition to the 401, Canada's most important transportation corridor. The Region of Waterloo International Airport offers daily service to Detroit, which provides service to international destinations. Canada's busiest airport, Toronto's Pearson International Airport, is approximately one hour away.

Development Opportunities:

Despite the North Dumfries already rich economy, it is constantly growing. Currently, there are parcels, 103 and 78 acres respectively, along the 401/97 ready for industrial development. Additional industrial areas are located in Ayr, at the 401 & 46 junction and along Highway 24. These parcels are serviced by fiber optic cables, allowing for a cost effective and efficient establishment.

Rich Traditions and a Vibrant Lifestyle:

The 94,305 acres that are now the Township of North Dumfries originally belonged to Colonel Joseph Brant of the Iroquois Six Nations before finally being purchased by a man named William Dickson. A practicing lawyer, hailing originally from Dumfries in Scotland, Dickson had a vision of creating a community in Canada primarily targeting people in Scotland. A township since 1819, this area has continually grown and expanded into the economic dynamo it is today.

This township supplies not only economic opportunities but an attractive lifestyle as well. The Fresh Ayr Festival is a celebration of spring and Ayr’s heritage, organized by local merchants and community organizations. The event features a variety of events such as an art show, a classic car show, fishing derby, canoe race, live music and more. There are many neighbouring townships and cities including the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival and Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo. In addition to the entertainment in the township, the scenery is marvelous with a number of walking trails and scenic forests, lakes and settlements to explore. Founded in North Dumfries over 25 years ago, Bend-All Automotive is a shining example of the possibilities within the township. Recently finishing construction of its 4th plant, Bend-All has grown to become the largest employer in North Dumfries with over 650 employees. The company specializes in tube and metal forming and its cutting edge technology, in-house product design, prototyping, tool building, and a streamlined manufacturing process has positioned it as a leading supplier of fluid handling and structural automotive components.
