Welcome to "The Triangle"

I think of the word triangle as being synonymous with Canada’s Technology Triangle – a region that is transforming multiple business sectors, and one that is rapidly becoming recognized worldwide for excellence in a number of different areas including high tech, research and education. When I think of a triangle, I no longer think of the typical 3-sided shape we were all introduced to as children. I think of anything but typical. Rather, the word triangle ignites other thoughts in me; words like diverse, innovative, collaborative and entrepreneurial come to mind. Phrases like exceptional talent, top-notch companies, world leaders, and amazing lifestyle. October 14-15, 2009 - Passport to Success
In partnership with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and the three cities of Waterloo Region, this annual event is a two-day familiarization tour to showcase our innovative region to potential investors and their influencers. Our visitors will have the opportunity to explore Waterloo Region as a potential location for future development and/or investment and network with members of our thriving business community.

October 19-23, 2009 - Eindhoven Delegation
An Eindhoven delegation on Advanced Manufacturing, specifically automotive and smart vehicles is coming to Waterloo Region this month. There is an event being proposed with the Networked Vehicle Forum and WatCAR on October 22.

November 19-20, 2009 - Regional Charrette
In order to utilize an accelerated, collaborative community planning exercise to develop promotional materials promoting the Waterloo Region’s strengths and opportunities which can be used to help attract investment, capital and talent to the region, CTT Inc is planning a Regional Charrette. A charrette is a collaborative planning process that brings together technical and design professionals, stakeholders, businesses and members of the community to create new ideas, options or a vision for the community. Through teams of 5-10 invited parties, we will undertake an intensive and highly collaborative one day planning and development exercise. The charrette will include an intensive study of 8-10 Waterloo Region sites, including investigating the potential development opportunity for each site, business case including potential return on investment (ROI). A briefing book for each site will be provided to each team in advance of the charrette. The briefing book will contain necessary information including land use, transportation, market analysis, economic and fiscal feasibility information, if available. Following the exercise, the 8-10 project proposals will be published as ideas related to opportunities for each site. These could be used for CTT to promote the region internationally and help to stimulate development opportunities for the Municipalities and the Region.
