German Language School
Concordia, The German Language School in Kitchener, is the largest Saturday German School in Canada. It is a part of the Waterloo Region District School Board and its curriculum adheres to the "Leitfaden" of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as to the guidelines of the Ministry of Education of Ontario. There are over 600 students taught by 35 teachers and educational assistants. Two streams are offered: the German stream for students who have a working knowledge of the German language and the English stream is for those who do not use the German language at home.Certification
Concordia offers three diplomas: A1 certifies students at high school competency; B1 affirms comprehension at year 10 level; and, C1 certifies the student has a university standard of German.
Scholarships
Concordia offers a scholarship of up to $500.00 to applicants who will be enrolled in an educational program during his/her stay abroad, provided instruction is in German and the student is enrolled on a full-time basis for at least four weeks.
Summer Camps
The language school has an annual summer camp for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years old. The day camp is located at the Grand River Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, and presents children with the opportunity to learn German and make new friends while undertaking indoor and outdoor activities.
