Canada's Technology Triangle, Waterloo Region, October 20, 2009 – The 15th Annual "Passport to Success" event proved to be another clear achievement for Waterloo Region. On October 14th and 15th, community and business leaders joined efforts to roll out the red carpet for VIP visitors from the investment, health sciences, real estate and government sectors to showcase Waterloo Region.

For two days, "Passport to Success" participants journeyed throughout our Region to learn first-hand about the innovative place we call home, and explore Waterloo Region as a potential location for future business development or investment. Our 28 VIP guests networked with other participants, staff of all the partnering organizations, and regional officials as they discovered why our business community is thriving and what it is that makes our Region so successful.

"Being able to share with participants the many industry benefits of Waterloo Region, while embracing our German heritage during the Bavarian Oktoberfest is always a true delight," says Bill Elliot, Vice President Business Development, Canada's Technology Triangle Inc. "For so many of our visitors this is an experience they have never had. This event demonstrates that our diverse, innovative and collaborative community is one that works exceptionally hard, but also celebrates success and culture with the same fervour."

"Passport to Success has again shown that Waterloo Region is a leader in many business sectors", said Ken Seiling, Regional Chair. "Even during these challenging economic times, this community has worked together to succeed and continues optimistic in its outlook."

For our participants, this was a unique way to visit Waterloo Region, gain an insider look at the workings of our industry, and celebrate business and culture.

"This event showcased what happens when you have a convergence of great minds and great people," says Sandy Cavanagh, National Account Manager, American Airlines. (Passport to Success participant 2009)

"An excellent and highly worthwhile event highlighting the excellent opportunities in one of the world's best high tech centres," Ashley Prime, British Deputy Consul General, British Consulate General Toronto. (Passport to Success participant 2009)

The Oktoberfest "Passport to Success", is an event partnership initiative of K-W Oktoberfest Inc., the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and Canada's Technology Triangle Inc.
