Lambda Alpha International Familiarization Tour and Urban Design Video Celebration
Waterloo Region- Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc today hosted two events happening in partnership – a Lambda Alpha International (LAI) Familiarization Tour of Waterloo Region and the Urban Design Video Celebration of “A Symphony of Design” which was held at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts.
Lambda Alpha International (www.lai.org), the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics, visited many locations throughout Waterloo Region hosted by CTT Inc and partners on a familiarization tour. The tour included stops at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, the St. Jacobs Farmer’s Market, a tour through UW’s Tech Park, the Perimeter Institute and stops by CIGI to help showcase the many exciting sustainable projects in our community.
In addition to the tour, members of the Society attended the Urban Design Video Celebration held at the
Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. Local dignitaries, community partners and architect firms who participated in the video were in attendance.
“A Symphony of Design” the Urban Design Video Celebration is a presentation of the promotional video consisting of introductory and summary messages highlighting the quality of architecture and urban design projects in the Waterloo Region. The video features a number of vignettes of specific buildings and urban design projects in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo that demonstrate examples of architectural or urban design excellence. Partners included CTT Inc, Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation.
