Laurier offers undergraduate and graduate programs in arts, science, music, music therapy, business, education and social work.
The university’s innovative doctoral and master’s programs include the only Master of Music Therapy program in Canada. Laurier’s Master’s in International Public Policy and PhD in Global Governance (joint with the University of Waterloo) are linked to the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
Laurier’s highly regarded cooperative education program includes options in arts, science and the school of business and economics.
Laurier was the first university in Canada to formally recognize the benefits of volunteer and leadership activities by offering students a co-curricular record, which serves as an institutionally recognized chronicle of student engagement and student leadership involvement.
Research at Laurier
Laurier houses 32 research centres/institutes and chairs, incorporating a variety of theoretical and applied research studies that address current issues of societal importance.
Some of Laurier’s research centres include: the internationally recognized Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research & Rehabilitation Centre, The Cold Regions Research Centre, the Laurier Institute for Water Science, the Financial Services Research Centre and the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience.
The university is also home to the Academic Council on the United Nations System, the internationally acclaimed Penderecki String Quartet, WLU Press and the Robert Langen Art Gallery.
